I found what appears to be a fossilized bone near a stream in southeastern Minnesota. It fits well in your hand and does appear to have possible wear makes on the edges. Perhaps it was used as a tool. I would like to have someone identify whether it in fact is a fossil, is it a bone and if so, from man or beast, was it used as a tool? Picture attached.

Thanks, Sean

sorry but no-one seems to know the answer to your question. The bone is so worn it is almost impossible to make any definitive statement as to its origin.

I'm farily sure it's not a fossil bone - actually looks rather like worn flint. both natural and worn bones have very distinct patterns and textures and I can see none of that here, and if it was a bone, the walls are far, far too thin and simple.
