I was just wondering, does the adaptive immune system work in the same way for snake venom as it does for viruses and bacteria etc. Ie: Dendritic cells present antigens from snake venom to B and T cells in the lymph nodes. The B cell attaches to the antigen on MHC marker of dendritic cell and T-helper cell releases chemicals to stimulate B cell to clone and differentiate into plasma cells and memory cells. The plasma cells then form specific antibodies towards the snake venom. Is this how it works? Also, when talking about snake venom, are mast cells and histamine production involved as I thought they promoted inflammation or is that only for allergens? And where do complement proteins come into it? I have looked in my school textbook and online but I can't seem to find an answer to my question.
