how long can the average frog remain under water?  can they breathe while under water? do they sink when they first jump into the water? if they inflate their lungs before they jump into the water, will they float?

Hi Evelyn,

Those are all very interesting questions! There are about 5000 known species of frog and toad in the world, so there are about as many different answers to each of those questions... A fun approach would be to learn about a few of your favourite species, by observing for yourself what they can do. A few frogs and toads make very interesting pets, such as the firebelly toad, the African clawed frog and others. Have a look here for ideas:
