We saw a red bee like bug it had clear lady bug wings, pincher's on the front, and a stinger on the rear. It also had like fly eyes and it was kind of hard to see because it was kind of dark. All I know is that I'm freaked out to play in my front yard and so is my friend. Plus it looked like it was starting to form a nest  there was a lot of them, and they are easily angry because once we were walking towards them (not knowing of them there) they started coming to us. They seemed to be in what I think is a sugar maple tree. Not in a red maple, plus they were near a pear tree, and another sugar maple.

Please help us figure them out!!

It would be helpful to know which continent you saw this insect, but if you are in the US, did it perhaps look like the insect in the picture posted at this website (also attached to this post):

If not, it would be helpful if you could give as many details as possible as to how it may have differed from this insect.

Aside from the stinger, it sounded like a member of the insect order Coleoptera (beetles). I am not a professional entomologist, but I do have a soft spot for beetles. If an entomologist on here has any suggestions, I would also be very interested to hear them!
