G'day,

I found the following information about fur colour in the giant golden mole. (Wikipedia) Apparently the colouration of it's fur is not produced by melanins but is a result of structural colouration.
My questions:
In your opinion how reliable is this information?
Could structural colouration make the fur of an 'white' animal, let's an albino, appear coloured?

Kindest regards,
Christina

the information is reliable I have viewed the original publications in 1985 and earlier. The mole coat is a very rare example of mammalian iridescence. This would not apply to other albino animals.
