Hello,

I found these remains in the woods of Michigan and thought I found the Grand Daddy of all Red Tailed Hawks, but the skull doesnt match up to any species of any bird skull I could find.

I estimate this bird to be about 3 foot tall, and a wing span of over 6 feet.

Thanks for any help in solving this mystery.

It's not a skull I'm afriad but the pelvis and sacrum. Those big holes in the sides are not orbits, but what's called the acetabulum where the femur connects.

I don't know what bird it's from as they are hard to tell apart but it looks like a decent sized one, could well be something like a turkey.
