Sir/ Madam,
There is a doubt in my mind which I have not been able to find an answer to.

In all manuals of Criminology and forensic sciences, it is mentioned that we can estimate the height and weight of humans based on the gait patterns left at the scene of crime.

Is this true? Is the step length and width of an individual based on his height and weight?

If true, can you quote some references with regards to research on this topic?

Thanking you in anticipation of solving my doubt and question.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gait_analysis and other google searches do provide some data on this (aka kinematics) but I have to say that the whole field is still not "mainstream" and the evidence base for it is weak at best.
