Hi - We have seen and photographed a strange flying insect that we've not seen before and wondered what it is. We live in Norfolk. It's got big black eyes, long feelers, black body with yellow stripes but yellow large underbelly. Red tip to the abdomen and horses head shaped head. Transulcent wings with black blotches, photos attached, any ideas?

This is a female scorpion fly of the genus Panorpa. There are 3 species in the UK but can only be correctly identified by looking at the genitals.

Nice shot!
