We found this bone along a river and can't figure out what it is. An overgrown beaver tooth??
Yes, this is a rodent incisor; and from the size, I think a beaver would be a likely source. Its not overgrown: amazing as it seems, this is normal for a rodent incisor, which continue to grow throughout life and always have a large uneruped portion embedded in the jawbone.
