Hi there I have noticed for two days now a flock of seagulls (40+) flying high and circling.

I find this odd since I've lived on the 3rd floor of my apartment building and have rarely seen seagulls. I do live about 30 min from the beach so its not entirely surprising to see them but the quantity and behavior is so strange and was wondering what would cause them to come inland and fly in a tight circling flock?

difficult to know. seagull behaviour is complex. it could be weather or atmospheric changes, presence of a particular predator, a prelude to migration or relate to availability of a particular food source.
