My research is focused on forest ecosystems using forest monitoring as well as dendrochronological data. A geographer by education I am interested long-term responses in order to understand changes within the forest ecosystem and processes of adaptation. I have been working in the UK, Switzerland, Germany, Mongolia, and Russia.

Dendrochronology is a header for different approaches using tree rings which a tree produces annual (not in the tropics!) while growing. The width of these rings varies depending on several factors (e.g. climate). Our aim is to understand these influencing factors to improve predictions on tree growth.

I am currently writing my PhD on factors influencing tree performance over large scales.
